Bsc (Hons) Computer Security (BCS)

Programme Overview

The BSc (Hons) Computer Security awarded by Liverpool John Moores University is designed to provide students with the skills to plan and implement cyber security systems, developing competence in technical areas such as cryptography and software development together with an understanding of ethical and privacy considerations.

The Computer Security programme focuses on protecting computers, computer networks, such as public and private networks, critical infrastructure, smartphones, smart objects, software and digital information from unauthorised access, change or destruction.

Over the last few decades, information technology has transformed the way in which commerce and industry operate, whilst unintentionally opening doors for criminals with a new way of committing crime, either against the computer itself or the information it holds. This prompts organisations to be increasingly reliant on dedicated information security professionals to protect sophisticated computing systems against the threat of cybercrime.

The programme paves the pathway for graduates to secure a career in Computer Security that has been projected to have 1.8 million unfilled positions by 2022.
